Pancake Ride To Benefit Traverse City's Safe Routes To School
Now in its 26th year, Traverse City’s annual Pancake Ride is an institution. Started in 1990 by the late Jim Mudgett and recently taken over by the tireless duo of Jason and Arianne Whittaker, the Pancake Ride is arguably TC’s finest group road ride.
The ride and breakfast will be free as always – big thanks to Einstein Cycles and Hagerty Cycling for sponsoring – but new this year, donations will be accepted at the start to support our Safe Routes To School (SRTS) programming. This comprehensive, Traverse City-wide project is dedicated to empowering elementary and middle school students to actively transport themselves to school as well as to grow walk/bike culture at partner schools.
A portion of donations will go to help:
- invest in bike tools, parts and supplies for El Barrio Bike Fix, our after school learn-to-wrench program
- fund The Bike Mas Project, our adventure-based after school empowerment program
- purchase more balance bikes and helmets for the Estrellas del Norte!, our learn-to-ride program for preschoolers
- grow our Kids Bike Library to make sure that every awesome kid can ride an awesome bike no matter their family’s financial resources
