Plant Northern Michigan

May 1, 2021, 10-2 pm

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

The Conservation Resource Alliance is an awesome local nonprofit with a mission to reforest a large swath of northwest Lower Michigan. They’re currently participating in the Wild Roots Initiative, a pilot program that targets both public and private lands for native tree plantings.

After last year’s success with 600 seedlings, we’re going for a super ambitious goal of 1000 trees in the ground this year! We hope to help our forested riparian corridors and enhance our region’s health and climate resiliency. We’ll be doing the same COVID-safe pickup process as last year — walk, roll, or drive up to the Clubhouse for Team Orange to deliver your order.

Trees are a critical part of the climate solution. When we walk, bike, and roll more, we not only enjoy the shade and protection of trees, we’re helping them as a climate solution. By planting more trees, we are stepping into hero status!

Have a place close to home to plant a tree, or five? We have you covered.

    1. Request up to 15 trees through the form below — tree requests open April 6.
      1. If you’ll be requesting trees for a school or organization, use this separate page!
    2. On Saturday, May 1st, plan to pick up your order at the Norte Clubhouse during Clubhouse hours (10-2pm).
      1. We ask that you give us a rough estimate of when you’ll be stopping by, but a specific appointment time is not needed.
      2. As with last year, it’s likely that we’ll form a line. Walk or roll to get priority pick up!
    3. Pledge to plant your trees within 3 days of pick up.
    4. Celebrate! Share a photo of you and your tree(s).
    5. Take care of your tree(s).

    6. Get on the map.

Help us map all 600 trees and let’s see where they end up! We’re hoping to hit Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Antrim, Benzie, and Kalkaska counties this year. Getting on the map is easy:

  1. Go to our 2021 Google Map, and type in the address or GPS coordinates of where you planted your trees
  2. Click “Add Marker.” No worries about how the marker looks; Team Orange will update it to the cute lil tree icon!
  3. That’s it; you’re done!
  4. Now send us a celebration photo of you and your new tree babies so we can add it to our scrapbook!

Thank you to all who committed to plant this year!
