Ride Bikes to See the Lights
Join Norte for a short but sweet and awfully slow winter-y community bicycle ride through our Traverse City neighborhoods to see the Christmas lights.
In addition to our bike riding, we will also be hosting a food drive for our friends at The Father Fred Foundation.
Grab those bike lights, warm boots and mitts, a couple cans of food and let’s celebrate the season together the awesome way.
When: Wednesday, December 19th.
Where: Meet at Rare Bird at 6:00 pm
How far will we ride? About 4 miles. The route features beautiful Front Street, a very festive 6th and 3 magical alleys before returning to Rare Bird.
Can kids come? Of course. We’ll ride pretty slow but they should be able to comfortably ride 4 miles.
Do I need a fancy bike? Absolutely not. A regular bicycle will do just fine.
Should I bring bike lights? Yes! The more the better. Light yourself up like a Christmas tree.
Can we stop mid-ride to sing carols? Great idea!
What’s The Father Fred Foundation? Since 1989, The Father Fred Foundation has been helping individuals and families with their essential immediate needs; nourishing food on the table, keeping heat and lights on, needed work shoes, children’s boots and clothing, or a table or bed when the necessities of home are unaffordable. Above all, they work to nurture hope when all else seems hopeless. Read more about their work HERE.
TC Rides is Traverse City’s weekly summertime (and sometimes in the winter!!), community bicycle ride. It’s goal is to create awareness for the growing presence of ordinary people on ordinary bicycles doing ordinary things in Traverse City.
