Ride of Silence 2021

Join the cycling community for the annual Ride of Silence memorial bike ride. The Ride of Silence is an annual international bicycle ride to remember cyclists killed and support those injured while riding on public roads. It helps to raise awareness among motorists, the public, and decision-makers of the dangers people face on the roads.

In place of a mass start, riders are asked to check-in and ride the well-marked 5-mile route through town on their own—the wearing of a free commemorative helmet cover picked up at registration is encouraged. Then enjoy post-ride special discounts on pizza at The Filling Station, which will donate a portion from beer sales to benefit cycling in the Grand Traverse area.

WHEN & HOW

  • Participant Check-In: May 19, 2021, 6 – 7 pm at The Filling Station Microbrewery 642 Railroad Place, Traverse City.
  • For COVID-19 prevention, once registered riders will ride in silence on their own or in their own group. There will not be a mass start or gathering.

Although we will be riding separately, we still want to celebrate together. All participants are encouraged to email photos of their ride to safety@cherrycapitalcyclingclub.org. Photos will be shared on the Cherry Capital Cycling Club’s website, cherrycapitalcyclingclub.org.

The annual Ride of Silence is hosted by the Cherry Capital Cycling Club, TART Trails, and Norte.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) strongly recommends continued effort to stop the spread. The following steps need to be taken together for the best protection.
  • Health Check – Self-monitor and stay home if you’re feeling sick.
  • Wear a mask – Take it off when you eat or drink, then put it back on, even outside.
  • Physically Distanced – Keep six feet apart as much as you can.
  • Wash Hands – Wash hands regularly. 20 seconds with soap and water.

Norte also supports socializing outside in well-ventilated areas and getting a vaccine as soon as available.  If we all work together, we will beat this pandemic.
